Dimensiones del Hypertexto ( J.L. Lemke)

J. L Lemke (2002) establece en "Multimedia Genres for Science Education and Scientific Literacy" tres dimensiones del hypertexto: como medio, como tecnología y como contenido en Multimedia genres for sciencie education ad literacy.

Hipertexto como medio
Hipertexto entendido como medio se refiere a aquel en el que la información está distribuida en varias o escalas o en la misma y pueden ser enlazadas unas a otras mediante la activación del enlace por el usuario, ocasionando la aparición de la información, integrando otro link.

“Functionally, the hypertext medium is one in which information units on various scales may be linked to one another (at the same scale or across different scales) in such a way that an almost effortless action of the user activates the link, causing the present information (anchor or source unit) to shift immediately to a different unit (target or successor unit).”

Hipertexto como tecnología

El hipertexto entendido como tecnología se refiere en Lemke a la suma de todos los sistemas y operaciones humanas y tecnológicas necesarias para conseguir el funcionamiento del medio.

“ The technology in which the hypertext medium is implemented consists of all the material systems ( with their inherent physical dynamics) and the operations (both human and machine, typical practices and algorithmic rules-for-operation) necessary to produce the functionality of the medium (Cf Harris 19…on the technologies of writing)”.

Hipertexto como contenidoEn tercer y último lugar, el hipertexto como contenido para este autor es un particular hipertexto web que consiste en un conjunto de items relacionados. Añade que es posible averiguar el estado del web en relación a los usos del internauta.

“Finally there is hypertext as a count-noun, a particularly hypertext web, which consists f the set of information items, their relations to one another, and whatever else defines the state of the web in relation to any possible action of the user”
Las tres dimensiones de hipertexto propuestas por Lemke están en la misma línea de las que señala George P. Landow en Teoría del hipertexto.

“(...) al considerar las implicaciones y retos del hipertexto para la teoría, debe tenerse presente que éste puede presentarse como sistema sólo de lectura o de difusión, y como sistemas que permiten al lector crear enlaces y breves anotaciones o incluso que le conceden el mismo acceso que al escritor” (1997:50)
